2007 Tournament Information

The 2007 Summer Tournament was held on Saturday, June 21. Weigh-in was at 3:00 PM. Please contact us for additional information. Results will be posted in PDF format following the cookout and tournament, along with pictures and comments.

The 2007 Lake Erie Walleye Champion has been crowned ……….. Captain Bill Netzel! Bill and his crew finished the day with a total of 69 inches for his best three fish. Second place came in at 67.25 inches. Captain Bill will be forever enshrined on the Captain’s Plaque of Champions and will hold bragging rights till 2008. The winners circle is not new to Captain Netzel. He is a former Lake Erie Grady Perch Champion. Rounding out the field was Captain Mike Manion in second place and cashing in at third place was Captain Ron Shinn. Largest Walleye was Captain Mike Manion at 27.25 inches and the largest perch was Pete Dix at 9.63. The fleet did not turn in a largest Steelhead. This prize will need to wait for the fall perch tournament.

In addition to great weather for great Lake Erie Walleye fishing a fantastic steak dinner was enjoy by all competitors. You need to try one of these dinners first hand to truly appreciate the quality of the meal. Bill Jeancola hand cuts each rib eye from a huge section of beef. Tom Tomasheski and Pete Dix grilled all of the steaks. Thanks for the huge effort to help make the day even more enjoyable.

Back to the steaks…… It is no exaggeration to say that the meal that was enjoyed was better than restaurant quality. Bill must have some secret seasoning or some secret butcher. Some overheard comments were; “I have tried to do these rib eye steaks at home and I can not get them to come out this good.” “Usually when you try steaks at a large gathering they come out very tough and over done. These were as if they were individually cooked just for you.” (Thanks to Tom and Pete) “I have not had steaks this good at a restaurant.”
